Die Installation »Survivor of a Year« dokumentiert ‚das Überleben eines Menschen‘ für den Zeitraum vom 5. Januar 2009 bis zum 4. Januar 2010. Innerhalb eines Jahres wurden insgesamt 45 Lebensbescheinigungen für ein und dieselbe Person ausgestellt. Eine Lebensbescheinigung ist ein amtliches Dokument, welches von der Kommunalverwaltung auf Antrag erteilt wird. Die normierte Form begründet die Entindividualisierung des menschlichen Subjekts und die Reduzierung der menschlichen Existenz auf einen Verwaltungsakt. Die Bilderrahmen mit Lebensbescheinigungen definieren das Leben als Dokument eines formalen Akts. Die leeren Rahmen machen durch assoziative Imagination das individuelle Leben jenseits der menschlichen Existenz als Verwaltungsakt erfahrbar.
The installation »Survivor of a Year« documents 'the survival of a human being' for the period from January 5, 2009 to January 4, 2010. Within a year, a total of 45 life certificates were issued for one and the same person. A life certificate is an official document issued by the local government on application. The normalized form establishes the de-individualization of the human subject and the reduction of human existence to an administrative act. The picture frames with life certificates define life as a document of a formal act. The empty frames make through associative imagination the individual life beyond human existence as an act of administration.
